The Three Musketeers in 3D - Movie Review

CastLogan Lerman, Milla Jovovich, Matthew Macfadyen, Ray Stevenson, Luke Evans, Mads Mikkelsen
DirectorPaul W. S. Anderson
Music DirectorPaul Haslinger

The movie revolves around a naive young man, d'Artagnan (Logan Lerman), who has aspirations of becoming a musketeer, and he meets three roistering musketeers Athos (Matthew McFadyen), Porthos (Ray Stevenson) and Aramis (Luke Evans), whose fortunes are on the decline, following the exploits of the evil M'lady De Winter (Milla Jovovich). The Three Musketeers take on newcomer d'Artagnan as they try to protect King Louis XIII from the scheming Cardinal Richelieu (Christoph Waltz) and De Winter.

The age-old story has been brought bang up to date with 3D imagery and spectacular duels, chases and battles enhanced with the latest computer graphics. The sets and costumes are beautifully styled, and what the audience gets is a great deal of exuberant combat between good guys and bad guys. Orlando Bloom as the evil Duke of Buckingham, makes his debut as a bad guy, in this movie. The chain of events lead to what looks like a cataclysmic battle between two major nations. Will the Musketeers be able to save the day? Can they get over their own demons, and rise to the occasion?

All-in-all, The Three Musketeers in 3D is just as the title suggests, the same old story, told in 3D with a lot of state-of-the-art technology being used. This movie is sure to endear to the teens and early tweens.
